Banner Battery Vent Pipe

Hi all,

Just a quick one. I went to start the seven over the weekend and she really struggled to catch. Battery drain via immobilizer I'm assuming (no power to garage). I took her out for a good drive but am going to have to whip out the banner battery and trickle it elsewhere while the car is not in use (I'm eventually going to have a battery isolator fitted).

The banner battery seems to have what I'm guessing is a vent pipe coming out of it. The main length of it is quite well tied up (nice and tidy) and I don't really want to touch that if at all possible (ie remove battery with whole of pipe attached). Can I just yank it out from the top (as depicted) and then slide it back in when I refit the battery? Cheers!

Yes that is no problem.Where does the vent pipe vent too? Mine just dropped on the floor but I didn't fancy acidic water going under the car and possibly onto the chassis so I made up a small catch tank out of a plastic bottle, maybe over the top but belt and braces I thought.

Yes. Pipe is just an interference fit in battery.

To cure your problem why not just use a battery conditioner. I have my 12 volt socket wired direct to the battery (including a fuse). I have the conditioner in the roof of the garage with the wire hanging down. Simply drive the car into the garage and plug in. Job done. Keeps battery in good nick, but if appropriate don't forget to check the acid level every few months.
