Caterham Bulb Types - All in one place

Recommended Posts

Hi,

As I haven't got my car at the minute, I was wonder if someone could provide me with a list of bulb types/numbers (not Caterham Part Numbers) for the Caterham as I am looking to replace some with LED's and would like to order them all at the same time.

I believe this post may also be helpful for people who would like to have details on bulbs required for travelling aboard.

Off the top of my head the lights are as follows (please feel free to add any I have forgotten):

Front

Headlight Bulb - Low Beam & High Beam

Side Light Bulbs

Front Indicator Bulbs

Side Repeater Bulbs

Rear

Rear Lights & Brake Bulb

Rear Indicator Bulb

Number plate Light

Reverse Bulb

Fog Light Bulb

Interior

Dashboard Switch Bulbs

Dashboard Dial Bulbs

Thanks in advance.

LED rear side/stop lights are as good as standard tungsten bulbs as long as you get the ones with LEDs all round & at the end. You can also get good LED sidelamp bulbs for the front which show up well as daylight running lights & avoid the need to use the headlights. I've been running this combination for 2 yrs.

Changing over to my rear LED tail lights on Friday, I tried them with one half LED and one half standard tungsten, and the LEDs are noticeably brighter.

That's interesting. Which particular LED sidelamp did you choose?

Problem with LED bulbs is the viewing angle they are often brighter than tungsten whilst inline but not when viewed at an angle which is why many fail to meet the requirements and therefore could land you in hot water if rear ended in a shunt.

Remember lens are designed to work with certain type of bulb swapping either can affect the performance - and not necessarily in a positive way.

Same is true for putting mega output bulbs in a headlight too only to find you now have a mass of stray light.

Many have no 'E' mark either

I would like to keep the standard lenses (clear in my case), i do like the idea of getting something like that thou *arrowup* and stripping/modifying it and putting it under the normal lenses.

The length is ok (170mm LED unit vs 190mm ish internal standard lens) but unfortunately its wider (90mm LED unit vs 70mm ish internal standard unit) but i wonder how much of that could be lost/modified *idea*
