Clean your Bell......Tank

All,

I am in the process of fitting a new K series bell tank like the ones being sold by 21Jigsaw.

So today I sprayed it with Gunk inside and out and soaked it it hot water in the garage sink and a bit of casting sand came out.

I then pressure washed the inside for several minutes and a bit more casting sand came out. Thought that'll do. Had a poke around the insides where the blue base plate bolts on and could still feel grit. Hmmm.

So, got one of those under-bed plastic boxes and filled with hot soapy water and let the bell tank soak a bit. Then attacked it with various bottle brushes for several minutes via the top and bottom square holes. There seems to be a narrow void behind where the gearbox bolt holes are cast into the tank. Followed up with the right angle head on the pressure washer.

The pic below is part of what came out, so don't just bang the bell tank in thinking its clean!

Remember, cleanliness is next to godliness when building engines!!
