Molecular--Bob
I have finally got my clutch system to bleed, so have a functioning clutch with a firm pedal, which has produced a new potential issue. I only get clutch disengagement a long way down my pedal travel. Is this normal?I have a Wilwood 0.625" master and wondered if I just need a bigger bore cylinder? Would I need to shim the cylinder to get the release action to happen closer to the middle of the current peddle travel? I know that I will have to set a clutch stop to prevent over extension, just worried that I may be close to that at the disengagement point. Thanks Ian
7 wonders of the world
Hi Ian,Many of us Duratec owners run a .7 master cylinder, shorter slightly firmer pedal perfect for road assuming your using the red spot AP cover and suitable organic plate. You will however need a clutch stop to limit travel and prevent the CSC over extending, you can rig up a crude one thro the alloy pedal box or a neater one in the pedal box around the push rod.BM me your details and I'm sure I have a photo for you. Molecular--Bob
I have a stop in place, just need to adjust it once I have established a bite point, just a bit concerned how far into its travel it gets before the clutch releases. More bleeding may help, but hope I didn't fail the maths exam that is the cylinder shim calculation.
John Vine
Can you adjust the length of a Wilwood m/c pushrod? For info, when I asked CC about moving from a 0.625" to a 0.7" m/c as used on Sigmas, they simply said they don't recommend it on Duratecs on the grounds that it could cause over-extension of the slave.
