Jeff210R
Not having built my 7 I'm not that familiar with what's under the skin. I assume all the ally panels are double skinned but am always cautious about drilling holes. Specifically I want to fit a fire extinguisher in the passenger footwell on the N/S. Is it safe to put a couple of self-tappers into the panel at the side or are there any areas to avoid?!Jeff
Wrightpayne
I bolted mine to the floor so I could reach it from the drivers seat. Big washers under the floor. Two comments - I think self tappers may pull out / work loose as the extinguishers are quite heavy. Secondly, there are chassis diagonals inside the skin which you dont want to hit. Try and find a picture of a bare chassis so you can see where they are. Oh and the side is likely to have honeycomb ally panels inbetween the outer and inner skin.Ian

Tim S
How about using velcro to attach the extinguisher? I've found that very successful.
Tom_Arundel
I lashed mine to the `heel bar` cross tube, on the floor in front of the passenger seat, using large tywraps....no problems and just a snip to remove the whole unit
Matthew Willoughby
Whatever you do, make sure it is very, very secure. An extinguisher coming free in an accident could kill you. I would not rely on self tappers. Mine is bolted to the passenger floor with some big washers underneath to prevent them pulling through.
