Has anyone ever built a set of driveshafts from parts. I bought a pair of the "motorsport" actual shafts, and have now thought about building them up with new ends etc. ANy help appreciated.
Not quite sure what you mean by 'motorsport' but I reguarly rebiuld the 'upgraded' Caterham ones. That's not too difficult to do, albeit a bit messy. I would recomend a proper boot band making tool such as the Draper one. I also use the Fuchs Titan Race CV lubricant - very exspensive but seems to offer better protection and reduced losses on the RR.
To be honest, nothing has ever been replaced - they've just been dismantle, cleaned, checked for cracks, and reassembled. Wear has been minimal which I suspect is due to regular servicing with high quality lubricants. I do have a spare set of driveshafts which I bought a few years ago, but never needed to fit them.
