MartinH
My car is being serviced and MOT'd at the moment and the garage has just called me to say that the washer that goes with the large, blue, anodised sump nut on the passenger side is cracked and was causing an oil leak. The washer is apparently an odd size and they can't source one locally so far and are having to go to Caterham for one which will obviously take days.Caterham usually use standard parts that are used in other applications though so does anyone know what this washer is and where could I get one in a hurry?!I was hoping to have the car back to use over the weekend but its looking unlikely now as it will probably miss it's MOT slot :(Cheers,Martin
elie boone
Strange that they can't source it locally, otherwise e-bay is pretty good for those things.
John Vine
I've just measured my spare (old) plug, and it's 26X31mm (ID x OD) and 1.5-2.0mm thick, in aluminium. Those dimensions might help in your search, but I suspect it's a one-off (that is, not off the shelf from a motor factors). I'm not aware that this size is used on a mass-produced engine, but it's listed here. You might just find this size at a VW dealer (for a Transporter?, although probably in copper).JV
John Vine
You might try a BMW dealer as well. It seems that they use a 26x31x2 aluminium washer for the sump drain plug on several of their models.JV
aerobod - near CYYC
The standard BMW part number for the 26x31x2mm aluminium "Gasket ring" is 07119963418 (or in BMW format 07-11-9-963-418).You can take this part number to a BMW dealer or Google it to find other suppliers, should only cost tens of pennies.
