Area Representative paul richards Posted August 17, 2021 Area Representative Share Posted August 17, 2021 I have a Draper one which is surplus to requirements if you are interested. Similar to THIS. To be honest, I found it too difficult to use with axle stands. You need the car to be quite high to give yourself room to work.
Beagler
Thanks Paul that one was on my shortlist. Debating myself whether that would be the case now you have confirmed it. Just wondering whether a piece of cardboard to lie on and a stool to sit on would be better. Is that what you do?
Member Jonathan Kay Posted August 17, 2021 Member Share Posted August 17, 2021 "Just wondering whether a piece of cardboard to lie on and a stool to sit on would be better."I have carpet under the Seven. And often wear a quilted shirt that came from either Aldi or Lidl. Makes a big difference.Jonathan

Neil220
I use a piece of hardboard about 5ft x 3ft covered with a layer of carpet underlay and some carpet.Held together with gaffe tape. The hardboard gives it rigidity so it is easy to move about and slide in and out. Also stacks on its side when out of use
StevehS3
I find this mat really useful. It can be a full length mat to lay out on - quite thin for under the car but comfy, folded to make a kneeling pad or fully folded to make a seat. I use it all this time. £20.https://www.slimsdetailing.co.uk/products/slim-s-kneeling-mat-
Mechanical Moz
I've had this Sealey mat for over 10 years now and it's been much more durable than I ever expected. Very handy being able to wipe dry if it gets any fluids on it.https://www.demon-tweeks.com/sealey-foldable-mechanics-work-mat-vs858-seavs858/I find anything with really small castors needs a smooth floor to not be frustrating to use. Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted August 18, 2021 Leadership Team Share Posted August 18, 2021 As Moz, been using the very basic Sealey soft mat (non folding) for quite a few years and it's been brilliant. It seemed expensive for what it is but the density is perfect.Stu.
