no doubt useful but a bit of an expensive toy  for casual use as I assume it wouldn't be allowed at track days?

I've looked at some of the videos Garmin post about this and I have to say it's an impressive piece of kit. Any track can be added to its database simply by driving around a circuit with a camera connected. Once it has filmed an entire lap it then sprinkles magic fairy dust on the file and can give you audible and visual instructions on how to improve your lap. At nearly £900 it's certainly not cheap but if you factor in what it would cost for tuition at every circuit you visited it begins to look like a good investment. I'm still doubtful it would be allowed on track days as it has a timing function but if they were allowed I think It would go to the top of the list in my letter to Santa.
