Ground clearance

Does anyone know which model has the highest ground clearance with a standard suspension set-up?

I've been told 360 Duratec has the lowest of the current range. 420s and above have dry sump which increases ground clearance.

Do K series have higher clearance than Sigma then Duratec (wet sump)?

I had a K series 3 classic and now have 360 Duratec and from what I remember the clearance under the sump ( lowest) part was much the same.

What about cars with lowered floors and speed humps?

Lowered floors are often still higher then the silencer and sump.

A few years back, I took my S3 sigma car to Dunsfold and  a chap with a Vauxhall engined car asked me if I had an engine in my car as he couldn't see the sump! The sump is below the chassis, but I'm pretty sure it is higher than duratec Sevens as I know a chap who went from a Sigma car to duratec, drove a favourite route and cracked his sump on a bump he hadn't noticed before.

My Sigma has lowered floors and is set up so a coke can can just clear the sump, which I think is normal ?!? it occasionally catches the seat bolts on some rough ground. The square type speed bumps are usually taken with one side on and one side as close as possible to either the curb or road centre where they are not.

If the hump looks bad you can also approach it at an angle

I didn't realise they differed. I thought the coke (other carbonated drinks are available) can test was standard.

From what I can see from photos, the Duratecs with dry sumps have quite a low point at the bellhousing anyway, so not sure dry sumps help that much (for ground clearance anyway.)

K lower at the front of the sump than Sigma. Seem some Sigma with 100 to 110mm.

You are aware Coke cans come in different diameters and heights, depending on who made the can for them to fill?  So your datum isn't static . . . :)

(guess who designs can making machinery . . .?)

Although you probably won't notice :)
