Bricol Posted September 29, 2020 Share Posted September 29, 2020 Do it on a hot sunny day - or after its been in a hot heated garage - or had a fan heater blowing at it.Soften the plastic, expnd it a bit, and soften any glue in there.Mine now tends to slide off slowly on warm days . . . Wrightpayne Posted September 29, 2020 Share Posted September 29, 2020 I find with bicycle handlebar grips, force a well used flat blade screwdriver (nice rounded edges) between rubber and metal. Good squirt of brake cleaner down the side of the screwdriver, pull it out then quickly twist the grip and it should pull off.My handbrake grip is very tight and takes a lot of force to remove it. timb2117 Posted October 5, 2020 Share Posted October 5, 2020 Im with Wright payne but added next level, screwdriver, then next to it slide the tube that comes with wd40 cans and a squirt of wd40 then let capillary action work miracles and its off easy as no force no leverage no risk of breakages used it for years with fragile carbon bike handlebars:) Link to comment Share on other sites More sharing options...
Wrightpayne Posted October 5, 2020 Share Posted October 5, 2020 Timb,The only problem with WD40 is the oily residue it leaves behind, which needs cleaning off to ensure the grip stays on when you replace it.
