CtrMint
Evening All,I've decided this evening to place an order for a replacement headlight bracket. You may recall from my previous posts the troubles I've been having with the grommets. I'd unsuccessfully tried to widen the first grommet hole and to be honest, made a bit of a mess, as I'm trying to build the car to a very high standard I've decided to replace the one I modified.Looking on the CC parts site I can see various types of bracket which look similar to mine.https://caterhamparts.co.uk/brackets/4448-headlight-bracket-rh.htmlhttps://caterhamparts.co.uk/brackets/7048-headlamp-braket-w-bone-brkt.htmlI believe both types are handed.Unfortunately, the type with w-bone-brkt in the description doesn't appear to say which is left and right. Does anyone know which is left and right with those? Also what is a bone-brkt? Assuming bracket there.According to my inventory, I received brackets with the bone-brkt so I'm assuming those are the ones I need, just a right one.I'll contact Derek if nobody knows, much appreciated if you do, I can get the order placed with ease this evening.ThanksMark
ScottR400D
It’s not a ‘bone brkt’ it’s a W/Bone (wishbone) brkt (bracket). They look like right and left hand of the same thing and the reference numbers seem to indicate that too.
ScottR400D
Demon tweets list the second item as:”Caterham Seven 7 Left Hand Headlight Light / Lamp Bracket In Black - 30P172B”which confirms what I thought, they’re just the RH/LH of the same thing. ChrisC
I kept my kits picking sheet, which listed all the parts no’s supplied. Have you still got that list?
CtrMint
Yeah I got the following according to the picking sheet, 30P172B Headlamp Bracket -w/bone brkt 30P173B Headlamp Bracket -w/bone brkt I need the right,
ChrisC
So from the pictures, 30P173B looks like the RH side, they have also updated the description to ‘Headlamp Bracket RH’.
CtrMint
It's weird though 30P173B on the website isn't a wishbone bracket or w/bone. My picking sheet says w/bone, and the website doesn't state which is which for the w/bone type.
ScottR400D
Years ago the headlamp mounting brackets were completely different to the current ones. Someone will know better about the details but the old ones used to fasten in two places, one under the wishbone front top bolt and one further back on top of the chassis. The current type must be fitted with the wishbone because they are fitted together, using a common bolt. Hence the name wishbone bracket I believe. Its not particularly good naming by CC but it’s not too difficult to identify what you’re looking for. Does your damaged bracket look like the ones in the links? I’m sure it does. Did the rad get sorted?
CtrMint
Thanks everyone for the support.I've now had an email conversation with Derek at CC and explained why I want to replace the one I have. He has kindly offered to replace mine free of charge! Fair play to CC & Derek on that one, certainly good customer service there.

CtrMint
Scott without getting off topic, no the Radiator is still an ongoing issue. Caterham are going to provide a modified mount, as far as I'm aware I'll be the first to receive it, although they are producing 5 to start with to test at the factory. I have expressed concern over a non-standard part, especially if I have a failure or warranty issue. I've been told it is their intention for the revision to become the new fit however if it doesn't I've also obtained writen confirmation from SimonL that CC will provide the final revision FOC.I'm waiting for their engineering team to complete the work. I was given an expectation on a couple of weeks eta.
John Vine
Caterham are going to provide a modified mount...That all sounds very encouraging. Let's hope it proves to be a workable solution.JV
