how to tell if my oil cooler is broken???

Hey guys,

I have replaced the head gasket on my R500K recently (milkshake etc) and replaced with a DVA special.

Recently I have noticed oil in the expansion tank, but not in the overflow or any milkshake on the oil cap.

I first thought it was remnants of the issue before, but now it seems to be more of it.

Its pure oil as well and not milkshake really. I have sucked out as much as I can and flushed through as much as I can a couple of time the cooling system. But its coming back. Getting nervous to drive the car now.

Am I right in thinking as there (well I cannot see any) oil in the overflow or on the oil cap that it "might" not be the head gasket this time. As the oil is only as far as I can tell in the coolant expansion tank.

Please be gentle as I am NOT mechanically minded really!!!!!!

Can the oil cooler be tested or jsut replace??

thanks

Nic

Is the oil cooler on a 500K water cooled? That is the impression you give as I thought oil coolers were air cooled. If that is the case then a water way in the jacket has collapsed or pin holed.

Just replace it.

Yes flushed through quiet a few time

No, not mixed coolant

Its oil - no doubt about it. Had a couple of suggestions on FB and words of wisdom is a hairline crack in the oil way in the block.

I am not having much luck with this oil and water!! LOL
