Wrightpayne
My ign switch failed on a trackday last week stopping power to the switched live circuits. I've managed to remove the actual switch out of the back of the lock barrel. It would appear the switch is not available from Caterham only the lock assembly complete at £54. Looking at Rimmer Bros these switches are available separatly for between £7 and £16 though I cannot find one with my switch reference number of 87804. Anyone changed this switch and can point me to a supplier. Or does anyone know where the ignition lock originates from? Regards Ian

TonyR
Ian Don't bother just upgrade to a dash switch. No need for keys, immobiliser will provide security. Tony
Stationary M25 Traveller
Is that number the key ref ?? Phone Rimmer Bros and ask - maybe one they stock will do the job - with a different key ?

Wrightpayne
Hi, Its the ref number on the switch that came out the back of the lock barrel - no need to replace the whole lock assembly just the switch part. Stripping the switch down its a 1/2p spring thats snapped which 'pressures' the contact points. Looks something like this here though the connections are configured differently. Guess I'll need to give them a call. Tony - I had thought of that too 😬 Ian
Wrightpayne
I contacted RBros and the were not sure. Made a judgement looking at the pictures and ordered an aftermarket switch for a defender. £10.60 delivered and it fits!!! There are two subtle differencies 1) there is a double spade connector on the caterham switch - this is in a different location on the landy switch but not an issue. 2) the original switch is retained with a self tapper and the new one is a v small machine screw - I was lucky and had one that fitted. Part number is PRC8230P edited to say it needed a bit of fettling to get the switch fully home. 2 mins with a file. Also spotted the ref numbers against the connections are printed on the caterham wiring diagram in brackets.
