K series "Plippers"

I've got two plippers, One that works fine and the other that stopped working. After taking it apart it's the Reset button that doesn't always work unless it's wiggled about.

Obviously I would prefer to have 2 working reliable plippers.

Qustion. If I obtain another one how do I get it programed with the correct frequency as my car unit?

I'd prefer to know I can get a new one first before attempting a repair because it is just about usable if it's not in the protective case.

I do intend trying to renew the button switch with a new one BUT it's not as simple as removing the faulty one and replacing because you cant get to it from underneath it should be done 'properly' with a special plate and oven to aid soldering.

Cheers.

Hi,

I've got all the kit to program these. Happy to do it for you.

I've also repaired loads of the key PCBs, in fact I've got a bag of about 80 (!) fully refurbished key for PCBs at home, all with new buttons as required, replacement battery clips where damaged etc. The buttons are easily replaced with a hot air rework gun and solder paste.

If you want me to sort it for you, drop me a PM. I would need your immobiliser box, the working old plipper (because the programming process wipes the memory of all fobs and starts again, so you need to have all the fobs you want to use present when programming) and either the old broken fob if you want me to repair it (only take me 5 mins) or I can supply you with a replacement.

Cheers,

Andrew

Hi, Andrew.

What a lot of plippers!

I have a mate who has the kit & for the soldering, he makes tbh PCB's etc as a 'hobby' and amongst his many attributes he makes his own kit for his Laser light shows but as he's not able to program the plippers I thought I'd look elsewhere in case anything untoward happens to the board. But knowing you've got the kit and expertise for programming. I'll source a couple of buttons from the likes of RS and give them to "me mate" to replace. With my fat fingers and Blind Pew's eyes I'm capable with trannies, caps, resisters and big I/C's, etc but nothing that requires ovens or hot guns.

However!!! if something amiss happens and the pcb does get damaged I hope I can call on your expertise to sort out a couple of new/referb'd plippers for a donation to RaD and something to cover your costs???

Thanks.
