LED Tipped indicator toggle switch

What installation requirements would there be e.g. a resistor in parallel (size, type?) ?

I've had a look at the information on their web site. It doesn't mention the need for an external resistor and I'd guess that it doesn't need one.

But... Caterham have fitted several different types of warning lights and circuits for turn indicators. Some could be disrupted by LEDs. I recommend working out which you have before changing the switch or lamp(s).

I went with an LED dash light cant really miss it especially at night no resistors needed

Ditto.

Jonathan

PS: There are also smarter and louder audible warning improvements.

Thanks

I tried a LED in the indicator lamp position and it worked for one direction/turn only, clearly needed a new relay in the indicator circuit to make it work - now thinking this is a better solution than the illuminated toggle switch idea - but that is definitely more 'millennium falcon'

GJT - yes I put an LED in the main beam bulb as well and it definitely ruined my night vision, I went back to incandescent

Single telltale originally fitted with an incandescant lamp?

That's probably because you have the factory circuit (or one of them) that passes the current through the telltale lamp in different directions depending on which way the switch is thrown! These can be identified by looking at the colour of the wires connected to the switch.

The easiest solution to that might be to add two diodes and move the path from the telltale lamp to earth directly to earth. (Rather than through the entire indicator system on the wrong side!)

PS: A different flasher unit may be required with changing to LEDs for the turn indicator lamps themselves.

interesting. @GJT I used a bit of white lecky tape over the bright light, fixed that, nicely dimmed; granted not very pretty, but your could do it "nicely".

I have a buzzer on my indicators, works day and night and is not forgettable. Two little buzzers from Halfords for about threepence each, one to each side (right/left), took five minutes to wire in (I forget exactly how as it was years ago, but they are attached behind the indicator toggle switch).

Jonathan - Any chance of a picture or sketch of this in a pre/post type arrangement? Thanks
