Graham N
I have a 160 with the standard Banner lead acid battery, which occasionally runs flat and needs recharging. A friend recommended a li-ion battery which should hold charge better and have a longer life. Does anyone have any experience or recommendations on this? (other than use the car more often ;-) )Any suggestions welcome.Thanks.
John Vine
There's loads on this in the archives. Try "Li-ion battery" in Google Site Search (menu bar at the top of the screen).JV
Roadsport06
Either a battery cut off or a battery conditioner would do the trick. It isn't so much your battery not holding its charge, your immobiliser will have a drain on the battery. A Li ion battery will not be your friend if it runs flat
rj
And the Li Ion batteries typically have less capacity although higher CCA, so for long time storage with drain (without master switch) it's less capable
7 wonders of the world
Agree with RJ, I run one and keep the charger on a daisy wheel timer and it gets about 5 hours a week, the alarm can soon drop the voltage down.Disconnected it holds charge for months though, spins my Duratec over very quickly and only weighs 1100g too ! rj
I've got one in my K. The car hasn't run since September 19, I tried to flick the switch yesterday. I think it would have fired althoug it seemed on the weak side. They certainly don't self-discharge much.
Graham N
Thanks guys. Think I'll look into fitting an isolator first. Cheers
GaryK
I have one of these, works fine and you can unscrew it completely if you leave the car unattended. I also keep a battery conditioner connected when in the garage. So far no problems with the battery.
Q Catcher
I had two Odyssey/Powervamp Li ion batteries and they were not as good (in terms of longevity (yes, I followed all the care instructions) or cranking power) as the Banner, except for weighing less. So I've gone back to Banner.
