Gnockoff
Stupid question time. 2005, K Series VVC SV. Would it be fitted with an OBD11 port and if so, where is it. Thanks in advance.
garybee
Yes, that should have an OBD port that works with generic fault code readers. It will be under the dash near the steering wheel. Probably dangling from the loom/stuffed up amongst the wiring. I will get round to extending mine at some point and mounting it properly.
Gnockoff
Many thanks. Looks like I'll be upside down in the car tomorrow morning to try and find it. Had an intermittent engine issue which mysteriously cleared itself after I waggled a few wires and connectors. My Brother in Law who runs his own garage suggested he plugged his code reader in to see what had happened, I didn't think the car had a Port, hence my question. Gnockoff
Found it! As Gary said, under dashboard, hanging from the loom, between the steering column and side of car. Every day a school day.
7SW
AS I can understand, You are planning to use an OBD Eleven dongle (VAG cars). Not sure that it will work. Please check Revilla's posts about MEMS3 ECU mapping, the proposed dongle is working very well (I did use it) and its cost is about 10 pounds. Gnockoff
The car has a standard Caterham ECU which, as I understand it, is locked. I don't want to re map anything, just to see if there are fault codes in there to explain my previous engine issue.
garybee
I would expect your car to have a Rover 'MEMS3' ECU. I had presumed you'd read 'OBD II' (sometimes ODB2 is written that way) as 'OBD 11' and didn't see any need to point this out. It's an OBD 2 reader that you need if you have a MEMS3 ecu. If it looks like a big silver door stop that's what it is.
