Paint

Hi folks,

I had an accident a few weeks back where I was rear-ended, and I need a new rear basket (back to Arch) and even suspension / dedion were damaged, along with the fuel tank and fuel pump etc. So quite a big hit, but didn't really feel that bad at the time, just the rear end bent quite a lot.

On reflection Im personally paying extra money beyond the insurance from the 3rd party to have the paint colour changed. I'm going from Ford Frozen White with blue stripes to Porsche Birch Green (POR253) with black stripes, working on the "be safe, be seen" principle.

Does anyone on here have a Porsche Birch green painted 7? It looks great (IMHO) on a 911, but would love to see it on a 7 before I pull the trigger on that paint.

That's going to look stunning! I've recently had mine repainted in Porsche Miami Blue, like the Birch Green it's one of the GT3 "special" colours, mega cost option on other Porsche models. I'd settled on the colour 12 months ago and sat on it for a while just to be sure I didn't change my mind but now it's done it looks (in my opinion!) fab and better than I expected. The non-metallic Porsche colours really suit the Caterham.

My 7's a Superlight R and I arranged to apply the new decals to the bonnet and rear panel between the colour coat and the clear coat, much better than slapping them on the finished car. Not sure what model you have but might be worth considering doing the same.

Stu.

Thanks Stu! I hope so, For a non-metallic, it has a pretty lovely look to it in my opinion too. And I really didnt want a metallic.

@Tazio - I'm not sure. McMillan Motorsport has it for the accident repairs and they will send it to whoever does their work. I know that they are very happy with them, but I don't know who it is.

@GJT, hello Stephen! It was a very bright afternoon, so maybe the reflective qualities of white caused the gent following to lose his way? ;)

Mine is getting a new coat as well and I have also been looking for inspiration

Just my opinion but I don't like that green (just too "look at me" type color) but thanks as I Googled Porsche colors and found saffron yellow, that is what I want, it is massively labor intensive to replicate and would cost $$$$.

So Im back to being torn between a Hunter Green and a Bright Yellow

Green.... yep green.......No Yellow.............wait Green.......no definitely Yellow......

Damm it more life changing decisions.

If no-one comes up with one... there have been some successful BlatChat Photoshopping exercises along the same lines...

Marcus, if you are going for a colour change and black stripes, have you thought about getting the stripes painted on? If this is done before the clearcoat is applied you'll get a very different level of appearance vs vinyl stripes.

That's a great colour, in a seven you want a nice bold colour just to give yourself a chance of being seen. My seven is some form of BRG and I seem to blend into hedge rows, and seem to be invisible like the the Alien from predator
