Brightonuk
Looking to overhaul the plumbing on my 2001 2.0 Zetec I would like to upgrade to pretty silicone and found a set on AliExpress https://www.aliexpress.com/item/4000043170548.html?spm=a2g0o.cart.0.0.11993c00Ujrj6x&mp=1Any ideas if parts of this kit these will fit as it is a Duratec kit.It is imposable to match the hoses and the configuration by looking at my plumbing and trying to match it up with online photos and I don't want to order, wait, reorder in the hopes hosed will fit.Is the Caterham Plumbing basically the same as a Ford Focus Thanks
Member Jonathan Kay Posted February 10, 2020 Member Share Posted February 10, 2020 There are three suppliers in the UK who will do Caterham sets and have lots of happy users. At least one of them offers a Club discount.Jonathan

Silver Machine
I purchased mine from CSH. They supply full kits for most Caterham engine instalations. Any unique intallations can be accomadated via photo,s etc. They will exchange/change any hoses if need be. Excellent company and service from my own experience. 7 wonders of the world
SFS give full dimensions on their site with angles and leg lengths so you can accurately work out what you need based on you current hoses.Don't forget hose joiners to and a box of new Terry clips and a small jar of vaseline. Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted February 11, 2020 Leadership Team Share Posted February 11, 2020 Steve, not being UK based you may be looking at a completely different selection of suppliers to us guys.I know on The Mini Forum (yes classic Minis not Caterhams) there's been quite a few owners that have bought silicon hose kits from the various Chinese ebay suppliers and the comments have been very good, certainly no failure or quality issues. They're a lot cheaper than many of the other suppliers so it might be worth buying the kit and if you have a hose that doesn't fit then sort that one out separately.Stu. Brightonuk
Going for the Chinese option as non of the UK places replied to my email.Next question is what clamp do you use for silicone?I like the single ear clamp nice and neat but as I am working with Silicone I don't know if I should be using a constant tension spring clamp or other type?I have heard as silicon does not adhere to surfaces I obviously do not want this to leak
7 wonders of the world
Silcone hose are fine with normal Terry clips, a light smear of vaseline inside the clip allows it to slide over the hose as you tighten.https://www.toolstoday.co.uk/terry-hose-clips
Member Jonathan Kay Posted February 15, 2020 Member Share Posted February 15, 2020 Going for the Chinese option as non of the UK places replied to my email.Do they know how to make a set for your Seven, or will you have you to specify exactly what's needed?I chose Classic Silicone Hoses over the other recommended suppliers because they communicated quickly by email.Next question is what clamp do you use for silicone?I've only got limited experience but my factory stainless screw drive clamps were in such good nick that I reused them. I smeared silicone grease on both surfaces and tightened the clamps incrementally after the engine was used and cooled the first few times. No leaks.Members with a lot more experience and whose judgement I trust use Mikalor clamps.Jonathan
Tony Whitley
No no he's not dead, he's, he's restin'! Remarkable bird, the Norwegian Blue, idn'it, ay? Beautiful pluming! The pluming don't enter into it. It's stone dead.
Brightonuk
I chose Classic Silicone Hoses over the other recommended suppliers because they communicated quickly by email.Guess they don't like me I sent specs and photos to all three suggested supplier not one responded.Even called one and they said someone would get back to me ....still waiting.I ended up ordering a set for a Ford Focus/Mazda from Fleabay (returnable) and as they all seem to be the same configuration (or stock photo) as every one on AliExpress.I think I can make if work from the 12 pieces in the kit if the ID is 35mm for the main hoses. I will return the fleabay set and order from China and save over 100 bucks.
