Rear brakes...

Hi all, my 310 sigma has a non working nsr handbrake, have gone through the suggested fix, but still no use, osr is great though.

Will get a new caliper, other than caterham any better value options ?

Also rear pads on rear are worn, as standard rear brakes , again other than caterham, any suggestions ?

Will then at my leisure send for refurbishment to big red.

While I'm at it, may change front pads too, as upto 3/4 worn.

Supply options ? Standard calipers of old type as car is pre new AP types from early 2014.

Failing that, perhaps i just go for the jackwebb new fronts, that i had looked at before.

Decisions, decisions...

Thanks for any information

I have the same problem with mine. Tried all the known fixes and even changed the ns calliper - still the same. I need to take another look but I think I noticed the handbrake cable catching somewhere under the tunnel. Mine is weak on the ns rather than not working at all.

Never had a problem with the rear calipers (apart from pad rattle) but I have always followed the advice of getting the bakes working before touching the handbrake to give the adjusters chance to work.   I wonder how many kit builders attach the handbrake cable (and thus pull the handbrake) before doing the brake fluid fill.

It you have handbrake problems on one caliper have you tried resetting the adjusters in the calipers by winding them back, then pressing with the brakes a few had time before adjusting the handbrake cable?

I’ve seen many with a weaker parking brake on LHS - even new cars but good enough to pass the IVA. Maybe it’s because of the different cable lengths, the adjuster being on the RHS or the cable routing... Mine was made worse as the original builder didn’t crossover the cables in the transmission tunnel so the LHS was rubbing but it’s still weaker on the near side.
