Rivet Sizes

I need to buy a selection of rivets but unsure of sizes required,

Caterham have a good selection but I don't understand the sizes.

Sizes required for: 

Bonnet catches to body and bonnet

Poppers to body

Inner side panels

Stone Guards

Plus any others which may have an application.

Sizes refer to diameter followed by length. Length will vary according to the thickness of materials you want to join. Obviously you can get black or plain aluminum. For best value why not go for a selection. I'm sure there will be lots available on Amazon or EBay or something like this

Popper bases need to be fitted with countersunk head rivets rather than the more normal pan head rivets.

additionally, the nose of the riveter needs to fit inside the popper base. You normally need to modify the tool to achieve that.

The tool modification I use for popper bases is a short length (5 to 6mm) of suitable diameter aluminium rod with a rivet nail sized hole through it.  Slip this over the rivet nail then use gun as normal.

If you have a lathe it's easy to modify the tool, alternatively use a M3 nut between rivet and tool that will give just enough clearance.

According to the build manual:

Inner side panels  = 5/32" x 0.47"

Stone Guards = 1/8" x 0.51"

I used a number of M3 washers to get the tool to fit in the fastener when fitting poppers for the floor mats and door strap.
