Roadsport cage fitting

Am in the process of fitting a new (to me) Safety Devices Roadsport cage to my 97 live axle car.  The cage is in and all the bolts line up which is good news.

I have one issue in that the top frame of the screen fouls - by a few mm, the top horizontal on the front of the cage.  My plan was to ease the rear two scuttle screen mount holes to allow me to rotate the screen forward a few mm - is this advisable/acceptable?

As a follow-up I then intended to run a thin strip of self-adhesive foam tape between the screen frame and the cage - just to prevent any chaffing.  Is that what others do?

Have you tried slackening off all the screen fixings and see if it re-settles?

I did and gained a couple of mm but need a few more mm to prevent contact and open a reasonable gap between screen and cage.

I'd just think about the door alignment twisting the screen may cause fitment issues. I wonder if horizontal filing both scuttle and stancion (opposite sides) - 1.5 mm on each would give 3mm movement.

Yes, normally the top of the screen frame should sit against the front of the foremost rollcage bar.

If your moving your scuttle remember this will affect te fit of the bonnet to...... as from new you fit the nose then bonnet and finally line the scuttle to those.

thanks.  I had probably explained it poorly.  My plan wasnt to move the scuttle but just enlarge the screen stanchion mounting holes a touch to allow the top of the screen to move forward a few mm
