Sealing Ring - Apollo Oil Feed

Hi,

Has anyone replaced the oli seal ring that sits beween the Apollo tank oil feeds and the oli filter housing on a K series car?  I seem to have an oil drip despite oiling it and giving it a nip up when I had to split the feed and the oil filter housing to sort out an oil leak from the gasket to the block... At least that one is oil tight now! Is the Apollo one a consumable item and easily replaced locally from Halfords?

Thanks

Nick

Hi. Yes I'm referring to the large O-ring on the sandwich plate. I didn't disturb the pipes at all so assume the washers Ian mentions are okay but will have another look

Re #1:

...giving it a nip up...

Thinking back to when I fitted an Apollo on my old 1.8K, the sleeved adaptor that clamps the sandwich plate needed a lot more than a "nip up".

From my notes at the time:

The instructions stated "hand tight plus 3/4 turn".  As the plate still leaked, I called CC who suggested a further 1/8 turn, up to a max of 30 lb-ft (I lacked the courage to go beyond 20 lb-ft).

IIRC the seal has some depth to it - quite chunky, so Think Automotive me thinks.

I had the same issue as John, not helped by the pipes, that I had to tighten off the car, doing their utmost to twist the assembly out of alignment. I had to drain the oil into a forensically clean container , remove the filter and tighten up the sleeved connector more to cure it.

Hi, I've just removed the sandwich plate again and failry confident it was nipped up tight enough with the amount of effort to release it.  i've got the seal off and it is quite a bit different to the oil filter one and it does seem to have gone a little hard so a call to Think Automotive is required.

Here's the photo to show the two seals side by side for future reference.

Thanks for suggestions.
