Barkalarr
Before I take the diff out of the Superstig (LF Mag Aug 2018) to send to R & R for a refresh, does anyone know what would be causing a clonk when you accelerate and decelerate "blip" the loud pedal. It sounds like the diff, I've had one of the driveshafts rebuilt because i thought it was that. It only happens when not under full chat. When you're giving it the beans you can't really hear it (prob because it's quite loud) but when you're driving around town and changing gear at low speed, it makes a rather annoying clonk each time you come off the gas.I'm convinced it's the pinion just needs half a turn to make it bite up to the CW a bit more, but i'm not really a diff expert. It's got a Titan LSD and when I reverse into the garage, it makes one hell of a racket clonking and banging, however this is expected behavior. If anyone else have suffered this, and could tell me how this was fixed i'd appreciate the input. I don't really want to spend out on a diff rebuild if I don't need it.TIA
Robs7
I'm sure you've checked but how much play is there when you rock the propshaft at standstill? Only I had a similar problem and the play was from 12 o clock to 6. Had the diff rebuilt with sintered plates instead of carbon which I was informed last longer than carbon. Tazio
Why not ask Phil at R&R?
7 wonders of the world
Unless you have suddenly gain excessive backlash due to a bearing going down I would suspect the common Titan ailment of broken belleville spring...... due to poor design of the unit which alsos excessive and uncontrolled movement ofthe pack..... hence the noise. aerobod - near CYYC
There was a fix for the excessive pack movement with two spacers and new Belleville washers that I fitted to my R400D, stopped the clonking. Not sure how to get the parts on their own, as mine was sent from Caterham together with two new driveshaft seals, the new diff carrier and upgraded diff cover.
