Six speed jumps out of 1st in hairpins

anyone had this? 

2/3 of way through hairpins it jumps’out Of first, sometimes. 

Is it only on lefts or rights? Don.t know.

Does it do it in straight line?  Not sure. Don.t think so.

Yes in the end it will go to Phil, but not yet. (Gladiator)

Under full engine braking the 6 spd in my R400D will jump out of first gear, but always has done this and doesn’t seem to have changed in 30,000km. Reminds me of many old English gearboxes in MGs and Triumphs. I assume it is due to under-specified springs in the synchronizer hub detents.

Try fitting a stiffer detent spring. We had the same issue earlier this year mainly jumping out of 5th or 6th but always under heavy braking. The spring can be changed in-situ if you have a short passenger foot-well but might be a bit trickier with a full length foot-well.

If your having this rebuilt send it to Steve @ SPC - he has had several custom parts made for the 6 speed and has several tweeks and mods too.
