thompster
I've just gone to check and adjust the calibration of my 2006 speedometer (electronic odometer, one button) armed with the recommended value of '039558' for 205/55 CR500s.When I turn on the igntion with the button pressed the speedo flashes '008786' but that's so far off something must be wrong. Are there different settings for 2006 speedos or am I entering the wrong mode?Ta, James.
mikecocker
I think you're in the right mode. The value of 039558 is a calculation based on 922 revolutions per mile for your tyre size x 43 teeth/gaps on the reluctor ring on the rear o/s driveshaft. Does your car have this ring or did they use a different method on your year? Regardless, I found the best way to calibrate was to find a straight piece of quiet road and drive it at a constant speed with a satnav in my lap. Any difference, pull into layby, adjust and try again.
thompster
Thanks Mike, I had a quick peer under the back but couldn't spot the sensor. I'll have a proper look next weekend. I think there must be some difference from the settings I've seen, otherwise my speedo would be reading 4x actual speed - it may not be spot on but it's not that far out. Bumble
Hi this may have helped my query immensely.my speedo stopped working, and I realised it was when I gave my insurance company this years reading. When I did so, it was in the dark and I think I unwittingly altered the code on the unit to be 118786. I'll now alter it back again to 008786 and see if all is happy now. Mines a 2007 roadsport. Thanks!Matt
