Suspension setup in Southwest

Graham Hutton

Recommended Posts

Hi Everyone! I have run my new car for 300 miles now and am starting to think about getting someone to setup the corner weights and suspension geometry properly for me. I live in Exeter down in Devon and wondered if anyone had recommendations for someone in this part of the world that could do it?

I'm keen to get it done right.

Any advice appreciated.

I don't know if you've done your flat floor yet, but if not it may be worth having a look around locally to save a run up to Millwoods, who are very good, but a long way away.

I've just done a quick Google search, so know nothing about them, and come up with EXE-TC Competition Suspension at Sowton - 01392 444490.  Not Seven specialists admittedly, but the suspension on our cars is not difficult to set up and any company who regularly works on competition cars should have no trouble setting up a Sevens suspension.  You might have to furnish them with a few parameters, but I'm sure there will be people here who would be glad to help you.

If you try them and find they can do it, it would be nice to put a post up here to let all the other SW area club members know.

Best of luck.

Paul.

Thanks for all the suggestions people, much appreciated. In the end I was recommended a small garage on marsh barton called Volkscape that obviously started as a VW specialist but is in fact run by a drifter for which corner weighting is v important. I am booked in there in a week or so and he reckoned it would take 2 or 3 hours to do it all. He is also happy for me to hang around and be part of it which will be important as I need to sit in it for the measuring.

I'll let you know how I get on but if it's good he may just have found another niche business!!

So I'm off to get my flat floor setup next week and will report back. I'm comfortable that I know what I want to do with ride height, corner weights and tracking but what about camber? Does anybody have any wise advice on camber settings? My 310R is a road car predominantly but will do the occasional track day.

ANy thoughts welcome. :-)
