top hose thermostat housing k series

their is a bypass hose to be fitted from housing to the return part of system , can it be fitted to the top of expansion bottle small hose connector which is not connected to anything, instead of using a tee piece, david

Original comment deleted. I should have read your query properly. I assume query relates to an SBD top hose thermostat. I would be interested to know exactly how this is fitted.

LD, I can't quite picture what you mean, I'm not with my car but I don't think I have an unused connector on top of the expansion bottle. If this would mean the bypass would go into the expansion tank then I wouldn't have thought that was advisable. mine is t'eed into the hose that runs from the 16mm hose that runs between the bottom of the expansion tank and the submarine.

thanks graham ,so i could put an extra fitting onto the submarine rather a t piece ,as its neater ,would that work the same david

David, yes that would achieve the same thing, assuming you can find a way of ensuring it seals properly. Mine is a QED kit and comes with the 16/8/16 Tee included, it's really simple to fit.

You can get a submarine with two outlets, one for connecting the expansion tank and one for the remote thermostat bypass. You can see it in this pic, engine removed for clarity.

thanks both graham and moz,,i have a ali submarine that i am putting together so i will add  another outlet for the bypass , like the pic,its all clear now great help indeed
