Trailer Tie Down Straps

O.G.

Recommended Posts

We bought a new Brian James Trailer a year ago that came with Tie Down Straps.

These seem more suitable for use to hold down a Traction Engine than our little gem of a car.

Can anybody suggest a light weight strap and the supplier that they use that is easy and quick to attach.

O.G.

P.S. Maybe "Traction Engine" is a slight exaggeration.

I use straps very similar to the ones on the Slings and Straps website quoted above.

Hook one side, pass the loop over the wheel, hook the other and tighten (making sure the strap at tension isn't rubbing or pressing a bit of bodywork or the exhaust).  Done!

That has to be the best comparison ever!  Apologies to the ladies.

I too would not be happy with 1" straps - I know the claimed capability, but when it shifts and one strap is doing more than it should . . . or a little nick in it . . . or just age . . .

I use the stamps mentioned for the front wheels at about 2" wide they hold the front of the car very securely. The straps go behind the wheels with a second piece over the front of the wheel. They are like the straps most recovery agents use.

i did find that this design does not work well on the rear wheels may be it just that I have 8" wide wheels. I therefore just stap the chassis down at the back directly using small straps
