Beagler
If I want to get at the prop shaft, does it just lift off or are there fasteners.
ScottR400D
It basically just lifts off but you won't get at the propshaft. You get at that from underneath.
Beagler
Thanks Scott thought there might be a top tunnel plate.
Wrightpayne
What do you want to do to the prop? Remind us what age / model of car - tunnel configuration has changed over the years.
Member Jonathan Kay Posted September 10, 2021 Member Share Posted September 10, 2021 There’s sometimes a screw in each lower rear corner. Jonathan
Area Representative paul richards Posted September 10, 2021 Area Representative Share Posted September 10, 2021 Access prop from below. To remove tunnel top you need to slacken handbrake to enable handbrake lever to be vertical. Remove knob off gear lever. Tunnel top will lift off but may need to move/remove seats depending on type of seats fitted. I have leather seats and can simply jiggle top between them without removal of seats. Beagler
Ok guys the plan is over winter to remove driveshafts. remove and replace Diff Get propshaft balanced. Paint calipers, new discs and pads. Replace handebrake cable(rusty) and clean and paint any rusty bits at the rear. May remove fuel tank and clean and spray with etching laquer. Will need to remove boot floor. Remove front calipers and paint, fit new discs and pads.
Wrightpayne
BaileyMorris for prop work - perhaps new UJs at the same time.POR 15 good for chassis painting - it is pretty permanent so getting on your skin is akin to getting a tattoo!!
