Budjuggler
I currently have Toyo R1Rs in 195/50/15 which need changing soon.R1Rs have been discontinued so what should I replace them with? I want to keep the size the same/similar, especially the 15 and the things I liked about the Toyos is the semi slick nature, good behaviour in the wet (I do mainly touring with the very occasional track day) and the cost.i have looked at Yoko R888R but think these might be a tad extreme especially in the wet.sooo what should I be looking at? K7 VCT
Running nankang ns2r albeit in 185,60,13. Very happy with them. Think they may offer it in your 15 inch size.

pgm
HiJust wondered if you have given the zzs's any thought? https://caterhamparts.co.uk/zzs/6975-tyre-avon-zzs-195-50r15.htmlAll the best PGM
Tony Whitley
I have a set of T1Rs going cheap...
Lotus Boy
Jeez, not another decent tyre discontinued :-(I got mine in 2018 so hopefully I'm ok for some years ahead (until I get a puncture) ...and T1-Rs are cheap for a very good reason ;-)
Budjuggler
PGMThey’re a bit pricey! Almost double what the R1Rs were. But the choice seems quite limited these days
pgm
Agree, but the zzs is designed for the car and at the end of the day that's all there is between you and the road.Kind regards PGM
StevehS3
I'm really impressed by ZZS for road, track, wet and dry conditions. They seem to last well too. In my mind tyres aren't the area to make savings.
Budjuggler
Having looked at the tread patterns of the alternatives, I think I am veering towards the ZZS.

Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted November 29, 2019 Area Representative Share Posted November 29, 2019 Michelin Pilots are the best for veeringand the worst for steering (quite why Caterham Cars allowed them on road cars is beyond me. I suffered)
7 wonders of the world
R888R lots of feedback whilst driving....in the wet show the conditions respect and remember your driving a semi slick shod, powerful, lightweight, RWD car..... and select brain mode accordingly... dave_h34
595RSRs nearest equivalent to R1Rs imo. ZZS are a better road tyre than both but are double the price and become an expensive consumable on a warm trackday (which to be fair they're not designed for). I think I'll try R888R next, see how they go.
