johnpbransfield
When driving in the wet the foot wells gather quite a lot of water so I am going to silicon some areas.......but which areas? Car has lowered floors and I can’t see any gaps when shining a light through....any suggestions as to where it finds its way in? Thanks in advance. 7 wonders of the world
Assuming as your post says its entering via the footwell area then water usually drips down around the wedge of cheese and gap between bulkhead and horizontal panel after finding its way under the bonnet from a variety of sources. SM25T
It's the foot cooling function on a Caterham. They really all do that sir.

Scotland North AR
I did find recently that the the inner longitudinal fold of the lowered floor towards the back on the driver's side had split. Not easy to see without the car up on a ramp. And yes it was letting water in. Only fixed it before Christmas so haven't been out in the car to see if that's the only place the water was coming from. Before anyone else says it, yes probable cause due to too many pies! David aka Blue7
Were there two splits Nigel ... or was that just an echo?
Bricol
My post of Aug 2010 - still water ingress free in the actual car .Been a couple of hoods and doors in that time that have leaked a bit on occasion when they got old.
Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted March 31, 2020 Leadership Team Share Posted March 31, 2020 My passenger side footwell can fill with water when parked and going nowhere... even with the half hood and shower cap fitted! I'm convinced it enters either at the lower ends of the scuttle or maybe into the engine bay and then creeps in at the ends of the heater tray panel (the long flat bit below the bulkhead). There's no sign of water running down the inner panels causing me to think it might travel downwards behind the inner skin then run out into the floor area. This isn't a small amount of water, quite often a 1/2" deep puddle in heavy rain! Same happens if driving in rain.Stu.
7 wonders of the world
Stu,I had similar in an old tin top so I got a aerosol of talc and put a line of talc around and low and behold a nice tell tale where the water was coming from.made the car smell nice too
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted March 31, 2020 Area Representative Share Posted March 31, 2020 My passenger side footwell can fill with water when parked and going nowhere... even with the half hood and shower cap fitted! So does mine. Recently, when examining the wiring (no light for the fuel gauge) I put a light into the footwell and a shaft of light fell onto the garage well. Both items on the list of things to do at home.
