CAB
Well, it looks like I shall be changing the clutch release bearing soon.... John Vine has been kind enough to supply me with a copy of his CRB preload article. Does anyone happen to know what make of CRB Caterham Cars currently supply and is it of good quality? Cheers CAB
stevethemook
Hi, I fitted a CRB recently after mine packed up on the way to Le mans this year. I got mine from Redline components. I think its a SKF part and type AB57U . It did seem a slightly different design but after a bit a gentle persuasion fitted ok. I decided not to bother with the pre load. Done 3000 miles since (blasted all around Europe) and all ok(touch wood) . Steve

alan7
Hi Steve Fitted a new CRB to my 1.6k Supersport & Caterham 6 speed box earlier in the year. The SKF is a better design & fitted without too much hassle. Since done about 4000 miles including 7 laps of the Ring without any bother. Oh I didn't bother with the preload either Edited by - alan7 on 18 Sep 2007 08:42:
John Vine
Chris, As far as I know, CC now supply the SKF CRB (as p/n AB57U), but I can't be sure as I haven't needed one! I'm reliably informed that the SKF item (a) needs a pre-load of 50-100N (so slightly lower than the INA one), (b) has the number VKC 2144 on the plastic mounting plate, © has the number FR A306B etched onto the side of the bearing, and (d) is called 445237BU by SKF themselves.
