Jeff210R
I have noticed a whistling noise from somewhere at above 45 mph and finally managed to trace it to the windscreen. When you push on the base of the frame in the centre the noise stops! I recently had a whole new screen and frame fitted and the guy was very pleasant but admitted it was the first Caterham he'd done, so it was a bit of a learning exercise. It looks ok apart from a couple of creases but obviously isn't seating properly. Before I start squirting sealant everywhere does anyone have any bright ideas?Jeff

SM25T
Don't use sealant ! Is the rubber seated in the groove the whole width of the screen and is it the right way up. It should have the concave face down on to the scuttle. I have seen them fitted upside down on several cars. Easy enough to rectify.
Jeff210R
Guess what? Auto Windscreens had fitted the wrong way up! They've refitted with a new rubber for which I shall bill them. But Caterham really should supply some fitting instructions with their parts if appropriate.
SM25T
Good news. This is why I don't let windscreen fitters anywhere near my 7 !
Jeff210R
All very neat now but there's a fair gap on both sides where the rubber pulls out of the channel as it's tensioned. I can't remember what it was like before the new screen. Does it look right guys?

SM25T
Looks like the rubber was pulled downwards too hard before stanchion fixing bolts were tightened ? There also seems to be a gap between the screen frame and the stanchion ?
Jeff210R
Yeah something's not right. I'll have to take it off and do it myself!
SM25T
Don't tighten the stanchion to body fixing screws until you position the rubber through the triangular hole, without pulling it clear of the groove in the screen frame.
