Recently, I was looking at some photos I took of the club parking area at last years Castle Combe classic and noticed a yellow car which had a very neat installation of the standard K silencer with a set of long exhaust primaries. I am planning to try and do the same modification and would be interested in how it was done. I know this is a bit of a long shot but if the owner is on here perhaps you could drop me a message. Thanks Chris
Adding the picture to your post might help with car/owner recognition?
Hi Chris, I am indeed on here. Mind you, a friend had to inform me of your post, I don't visit often!
I bought the car with the exhaust configuration as it is. I'm happy to take any photos you'd like. There is a bespoke manufacturer not that far from me, in Daventry, who could probably make up the headers and 4-1 for you. They are BTB Exhausts. I've just replaced the silencer, and it's a standard K-Series that comes with a long inlet pipe. I had a fabricator cut off the inlet pipe from the original silencer, and cut/weld it onto the replacement silencer.
Hi Dave
Thanks for getting in contact and the info. I have aquired a set of Caterham 4-1 long primaries which I want to join to the standard silencer with internal cat. Do you know if the headers on your car are the Caterham 4-1 or bespoke. It looks like I will have to get the primaries on my car bent to meet the silencer as they swoop down too low with the collector added.

Dave, if you have time could you post a couple of close ups of your installation so I can assess the distances from the side skin. I suspect I will have to talk to an exhaust builder achieve the level of precision required. Thanks for your help.
i would bring the cat side of the exhaust closer to the skin to make the angle less important with the collector, you may have to ditch the front support to do this, the down side will be that the rear of the silencer will be further from the side skin.
The front support was always a K series thing? Sigma & Duratec do not use the forward mount for the same sort of exhaust set up.

Made up a "special" for my K Series R300 when the dealer I was buying the car from discovered the previous owner had removed the CAT and it would not pass the pre sale MoT! They have a good rep around here and support Castle Combe Racing circuit.

Chris, please find attached photos. If you want anything more specific, or taken differently, just let me know.
I'm at Anglesey on Monday if you happen to be going?
Thanks for all your help and idea Gents. I will post the outcome if it works out. Enjoy Angelsey Dave, alas not for me.
