shn7
We've been living with this Drupal based forum for quite a while. Since day 1 IIRC formatting of posts written on android devices has been lacking. Is there good reason this has not been fixed?
SM25T
The only way to do it for me is to 'select desktop site' .... just don't do it after you have typed your post ... or it wipes it !
shn7
Trying that now.Though it does mean having to zoom in/out for the page to suitably fit my phone screen to see what I'm typing.
shn7
Hmm, that seems to work. Though if I then edit that post it shows the html tags. I'll accept it's a workaround I still find it bizarre the core issue still exists.
SM25T
I just noticed all that rubbish in the text when editing. I have no idea what Drupal is ... but if does seem like hard work.
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted April 21, 2019 Area Representative Share Posted April 21, 2019 I just put angle brackets around a P (works with both upper and lower case P or p. What was a revelation was the automatic creation of links.
Area Representative Golf Juliet Tango Posted April 21, 2019 Area Representative Share Posted April 21, 2019 And regarding #2 Ian, what I have done is post, then edit in desktop mode.Broadly speaking I think these matters are outside our control. rj
Is it acceptable that five (!) years on, posting on mobiles still doesn't work?
revilla
A workaround (bodge):Precede each paragraph with open angle bracket, lower case p, close angle bracket. It's the minimal attempt to add formatting markup that will fool it.I typed this on Android.I do think however that it's crazy we have to do this. Android has got to be one of the main ways this kind of forum is accessed in this day and age!

shn7
I can accept there are workarounds but surely the underlying bug isn't acceptable.
SM25T
That sounds like our first word processors from the mid 1980s !!!
rj
What Steve said.Fair enogh that there were issues in 2014, five years later those should be fixed.

Support Team Shaun_E Posted April 25, 2019 Support Team Share Posted April 25, 2019 The editor for the version of Drupal we use just doesn't support Android very well. That wasn't know at the time of selection. We have stayed on that version for Drupal for stability reasons as recommended by our partner. I guess we are getting close to the time when we should upgrade.
shn7
Shaun, If the newer version is more android friendly and doesn't bring other issues then it can't come soon enough.
