Here's some video from the track day on Monday, a lot of fun although I suspect 250bhp and 8 year old CR500's wasn't the best combination :)
nice vid. Out of interest, the camera view seems to move relative to the roll cage. Is this in the edit, or is there really that much movement in the camera mount?
Hmm hadn't noticed that, it's not something I've done deliberately. I suspect I need to go and double-check the camera mount! :O
That looks properly quick, my Lotus Sunbeam used to hit the rev limiter at 130mph by the bridge when it was there. Did have a 4.2 Rover V8 pulling it along
Some new rubber and a little less traffic would have helped, looked like fun.
What camera are you using?
I suspect the apparent movement is something to do with the cameras image stabilisation. (If the camera were loose, there would be much more movement!)
It's a Gopro 7 black so yes that could be the case, Hyper smooth is turned on.
#4 Yes some new tyres will make a difference, the session was fairly busy but I did get some relatively clear laps. The speed differential was a bit higher than I expected.
130mph is crazy, looking through I topped out at around 128mp on the back straight and 126mph on the start/finish straight but I never really got a decent exit out of the previous corners and I was being extra cautious on the brakes as the front tyres were shot.
Donnington used to run trackdays on a Sunday morning and I used one as a shake down test for the Sunbeam which was used as a tarmac rally car on single venue events. All the BMW M3's were being pulled up for noise and everyone was surprised we were not. Used to test 94db static
Started off damp on some AO21's and then swapped to medium molded slicks. I don't have any video, but the noise was cool. 4x48 downdraft carbs
I was put off when places came up as not for novices, I'm a novice in a Caterham. I don't miss 4mpg!
Great picture Derek !
