Leadership Team SLR No.77 Posted October 26, 2021 Leadership Team Share Posted October 26, 2021 George, if you have the specifications for the cams and you work through everything slowly it should be fairly straightforward, you'll need a 360 deg protractor (Kent Cams do a decent one) and suitable dial gauges. Once you've set the crank at 90 deg BTDC you can fit the protractor (to represent this) and mark out the "safe zone" so you avoid the pistons going anywhere near the valves. Then use the dial gauges to assess the fully closed and lift positions of the cams and progress carefully ... maybe you know this already though!Stu. Wrightpayne Posted October 26, 2021 Share Posted October 26, 2021 When I fitted vernier cam pulleys to my K series I designated each pulley as either inlet or exhaust then transferred over the timing marks from the original pulleys, so I could fit the cam belt. Following Dave Andrews guidelines (DVA power / Oily on BC) I retarded the inlet pulley 10 degrees and advanced the exhaust pulley 10 degrees to protect the engine pre accurate cam timing.
