Sigma ECU

Recommended Posts

All  a bit above me, but on behalf of a friend who lives in Cyprus, am trying to source an ECU for a Sigma engined car. His current ECU, which requires replacement, has a number 38L036A and 00033528 on it. Can anyone help or point me in the direction of a replacement part?

The car originally came from the UK and none the ones shown on CC's on line spares have numbers matching those detailed above. Don't think anyone is available in Cyprus to repair his existing one. Does anyone know if any other type (with a different number) would do as a replacement?

You can use an MBE 9A4 ECU from SBD (https://www.sbdmotorsport.co.uk/MBE9A4-mbe9a4-ecu--fuel-injection-up-to-4-cylinders.html), but it would need an appropriate map. They may have one available, but otherwise it would require a rolling road session to tune. The 9A4 is an updated version of the 992 ECU that you currently have that is plug compatible and takes about 2 minutes to swap out.

I would expect that Caterham should be able to sell you either an exact replacement or updated unit (such as a 9A4) with a map specifically for your engine configuration, if you send them an email explaining what you need. The Caterham part number is generally related to the software load, as opposed to the specific hardware, tying to specific engine requirements.
